Therapy for Adults and Parents
Life can be complicated at any stage. Carving out a dedicated space to prioritize your own well-being is fundamental to showing up authentically for those who matter most.
At Featherstone, I partner with adults managing OCD, anxiety, perfectionism, and life transitions. Additionally, I provide targeted support for parents seeking to better understand and assist children or teens with emotional dysregulation, avoidance patterns, or challenging behaviors.
Whether you are pursuing personal growth or learning how to best support your child, you don't have to manage these challenges alone.
Feel less overwhelmed. Live more intentionally.
You might be the reliable one, the person who keeps everything moving and meets every expectation. Yet, beneath the surface, you might be experiencing persistent worry, overthinking, or the sense that you are just barely keeping up.
Perhaps decision-making feels overwhelming, or you are holding yourself to impossible standards while prioritizing everyone else's needs. It could be that OCD or anxiety is beginning to dominate your daily life, or a recent transition has left you uncertain about the path ahead.
At Featherstone, therapy offers a dedicated space to pause. Together, we will cultivate the insight and practical tools necessary for you to navigate life with a sense of being grounded, empowered, and truly confident.
WHEN ANXIETY STARTS CALLING THE SHOTS
For many adults, anxiety can quietly start to shape everyday choices
You might avoid situations that feel uncomfortable, overanalyze conversations, or feel like everything needs to be “just right” before moving forward. Therapy is not about eliminating anxiety altogether. Instead, we work on helping you learn to respond differently to stressors, so that they don't run your life.
For OCD and anxiety-related conditions, therapy incorporates evidence based approaches including exposure-response prevention and cognitive behavioral strategies with an emphasis on practical skills you can use outside of the therapy office.

Parenting Support
Sometimes your child isn't the only one who needs support.
Parenting is a constant responsibility, and the emotional and practical demands can be overwhelming. When your child is struggling, it can be hard to know how to help while also carrying your own worry, guilt or uncertainty. It's common to feel as though you are walking on eggshells, questioning whether your current approach is truly supporting their growth or simply managing the moment.
At Featherstone, parent support offers a dedicated space to gain perspective. Together, we will cultivate a more intentional and confident way for you to respond, empowering you to lead your family with clarity and consistency.

FAQs

This depends on the circumstances and clinical appropriateness. When both parent and child need individual therapy, maintaining appropriate therapeutic boundaries and ensuring each person's needs are adequately supported is essential. In many circumstances, I typically refer the adult client to a trusted colleague with expertise in their area of concern. We can discuss the best arrangement during your consultation.
-
You don’t need to have the answer before we connect. In our consultation call, we’ll look at your current challenges together to decide if individual therapy, parent training, or another option would be the best fit.
-
I offer the flexibility of both in-person and virtual sessions for adults and parent training.
-
You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If overthinking, perfectionism, anxious rumination, or a general sense of being “stuck” is getting in the way of living intentionally, therapy offers the space to gain insight and build practical tools for change.
-
Yes. Working directly with your child’s school can be especially helpful for school anxiety, incorporating accommodations, school refusal, and collaboration when appropriate and authorized. In addition, I find it extremely helpful for continuity of care to connect with other providers your child sees, including pediatricians, psychiatrists and occupational therapists, to name a few.

While your history provides context for your current struggles, our work at Featherstone is primarily action-oriented. We focus on the patterns affecting your life today and the concrete steps you can take to move forward in the here and now.
