About Featherstone Psychology

I’m Katrina Rydzewski, Psy.D.
Founder and Licensed Clinical Psychologist

But my patients call me Dr. Trina

Featherstone Psychology provides specialized, evidence-based treatment for OCD, anxiety, and related conditions so that children, teens, and their families can move beyond fear and return to living with confidence, flexibility, and connection.

My Therapeutic Style

My clinical work integrates cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure-based treatment, mindfulness, and attachment-focused interventions through a developmental and family systems lens. Rather than applying the same approach to every child, I tailor treatment to each individual's strengths, interests, and stage of development.

I believe parents and caregivers are an essential part of lasting change.

Whether I'm working directly with a child or supporting parents through SPACE Treatment, my goal is to help families understand anxiety—not organize their lives around it.

Above all, I strive to create a warm, collaborative environment where children feel safe enough to face difficult emotions, build resilience, and discover that they are capable of doing hard things. At the same time, I help parents gain practical tools, confidence, and a deeper connection with their child throughout the healing process.

My Story

Education & Training

I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Hawaiʻi, where I served as a collegiate athlete before completing my doctoral training at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles.

My doctoral dissertation explored The Impact of Strategic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on Family Functioning in Pediatric Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, reflecting a philosophy that continues to define my work today: meaningful change happens not only within the individual, but throughout the family system.

Clinical Training

My clinical training spans some of the most diverse levels of psychological care. I developed my passion for treating OCD and anxiety in a specialty private practice devoted exclusively to anxiety-related disorders, later expanding my experience through inpatient psychiatric treatment, pediatric neuropsychological assessment at Kaiser Permanente, and an APA-accredited APPIC internship at a therapeutic preschool specializing in trauma, attachment, and early childhood development.

Before Featherstone

Before opening Featherstone Psychology, I spent several years supervising doctoral psychology trainees, associate marriage and family therapists, and multidisciplinary treatment teams while providing care within intensive outpatient programs. This breadth of experience allows me to confidently treat complex presentations while maintaining the highly personalized attention that boutique care makes possible.

Founding Featherstone

In 2024, I founded Featherstone Psychology with a simple vision: to create the kind of practice I would want for my own family—a place where clinical excellence, genuine connection, and individualized care exist together. My practice is intentionally designed to provide highly individualized, evidence-based care for children, adolescents, adults, and the families who support them.

A feather represents gentleness, compassion, and hope.
A stone represents strength, stability, and resilience.

Healing requires both.

  • At Featherstone, we stand for:

  • Empowerment

A core aspect of treatment is giving patients and their families the confidence and resources to take control of their own lives – and not let anxiety or other mental health conditions control them.

  • Authenticity

I don’t believe therapy should feel scripted, clinical, or one-size-fits-all. I strive to create a space where children, teens, adults, and families can show up exactly as they are, feel understood without judgment, and can build real connection.

  • Collaboration

The treatment process is not one sided. It takes a lot of collaboration between the clinician and patient to create a meaningful treatment outcome.

  • Compassion

I know what it feels like to be the anxious kid who overthinks, feels overwhelmed and doesn't quite know how to make sense of what’s happening inside. I never want my patients to feel “fixed” or that there is something wrong with them for experiencing big emotions.

  • Inclusivity

I believe everyone deserves to feel welcome, respected, and accepted for who they are. I strive to create a welcoming space where people from all backgrounds, identities, and family structures feel comfortable being themselves and receiving the support they need.

Let’s get started.

A woman in a green and white striped dress is standing on a sofa, talking to a man with glasses and a beard, who is sitting on the sofa. To the left, another man is sitting with his hands on his knees, wearing glasses and a plaid shirt. To the right, a man in a striped shirt is sitting cross-legged, smiling, with a small pile of sunflowers on the side and a wooden coffee table in front.
